European Women Researchers Day Launches in Paris

According to an article published on My Science Work, today at CNRS headquarters in Paris, a launch event will be held for the first European Women Researchers Day. With the goal of staging events annually at institutions across Europe, the 2014 edition, offering workshops and networking opportunities, is being organized by the Mission for the Place of Women at the French CNRS, in collaboration with several partners. MyScienceWork supports this initiative in favor of women’s advancement in science and will be present to share the event via twitter (#EWRD).

Young researchers and PhD candidates in math and physics will be especially interested in Friday’s events, although the exchange of best practices and personal experiences made possible by the gathering will undoubtedly apply to researchers in many fields. The afternoon will consist of three parts, and the sessions can be joined via videoconference or phone, watched live, and followed on Twitter.

13h30-15h: Two workshops to choose from:

  • - Financing in European research, mobility opportunities and grant application support (English)
  • - Scientific careers – Recruiting and advancement at the CNRS and universities (French)

15h15-17h15: Equations that built careers
Two well-known women researchers in physics and math, Isabelle Gallagher and Lucia Réining, will present their research and career path. (English)

17h15-18h30:Networking and cocktail hour
